Pre-Construction Engineer – Water Treatment & Advanced Industries

We are seeking a Pre-Construction Engineer to support the development of early-stage designs and technical proposals for major water treatment projects across sectors such as data centres, healthcare, industrial processing, municipal water, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

This is a hybrid role based in Co Kildare, offering the chance to influence projects from their earliest concept stage and help shape technically robust, commercially viable engineering solutions.

You will collaborate closely with design teams, project managers and clients to develop conceptual layouts, feasibility studies, technical evaluations and preconstruction documentation, ensuring designs are buildable, efficient and aligned with project objectives.

This role is ideal for an engineer with strong water treatment design experience who enjoys technical problem-solving, early project involvement and multidisciplinary coordination.

Pre-Construction Engineer Skills:

• Strong technical understanding of water treatment technologies such as membranes, ion exchange, filtration, CDI, ultraviolet treatment or chemical dosing systems
• Ability to produce conceptual, feasibility and early-stage engineering designs
• Experience in preparing layout drawings, process descriptions and system calculations
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients
• Confident contributing to bid submissions, proposals and preconstruction documentation
• Ability to manage multiple design tasks and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong organisation, analytical skills and attention to detail
• IT proficient with experience in MS Office; familiarity with 2D/3D CAD or Revit is an advantage
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in water treatment design
• Permit to work in the EU

As a Pre-Construction Engineer:

• Develop conceptual and feasibility-stage designs for water treatment systems across multiple sectors
• Carry out technical evaluations, modelling, process assessments and lifecycle/payback studies
• Contribute to project planning and ensure preconstruction activities meet schedule and budget requirements
• Work closely with engineers, project managers and suppliers to refine design options and ensure constructability
• Support tender submissions, technical proposals and bid documentation
• Provide technical input as projects transition from preconstruction into full design and construction
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients, internal teams and external partners
• Prepare high-quality technical reports, feasibility documents and pre/post-project records
• Support business development activities by participating in client presentations and technical discussions
• Manage several preconstruction packages at once, ensuring timely delivery across all assigned projects

The Package: Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least €85,000 plus package, depending on experience.
