The Company
This established Irish engineering contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients throughout Ireland. Working across treatment plants, pumping stations, network upgrades and process installations, they are known for delivering technically complex projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their team in Carlow, Co Carlow. The role combines office-based project management with regular site visits across active projects throughout Ireland.
The Role: Project Manager
As Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for delivering mechanical and electrical water infrastructure projects from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover.
Working closely with clients, design teams, subcontractors and directly employed site crews, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards. This role requires a commercially aware Project Manager with strong technical knowledge and experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects within the Irish construction or utilities sector.
Must Have Requirements
You are an experienced Project Manager with a strong engineering background and a proven ability to deliver technically demanding infrastructure projects. You are comfortable managing multiple stakeholders, coordinating site teams and maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring programme, quality and commercial targets are achieved.
You have excellent organisational skills, communicate effectively with clients and contractors, and take a practical approach to solving problems on live engineering projects.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have 10+ years' Mechanical or Electrical Engineering experience with significant Project Engineering or Project Management experience
- Proven experience delivering construction or engineering projects from design through to handover
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site teams is required
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent programme management skills
- Full driving licence with willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland
- Water or wastewater treatment project experience preferred
- AutoCAD experience beneficial
- Experience preparing technical submissions and project documentation
- Knowledge of commissioning and process plant installation
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
- Health & Safety training
- Experience working with public sector contracts
- Familiarity with Irish water infrastructure standards
- Manage the full lifecycle of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Coordinate design development, procurement, construction and commissioning activities
- Review client specifications and ensure contract compliance throughout delivery
- Prepare and monitor project programmes to ensure milestones are achieved
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and directly employed mechanical and electrical crews
- Prepare technical submissions, reports and documentation for client approval
- Develop method statements, risk assessments and quality documentation
- Maintain project budgets, monitor costs and provide financial reporting
- Manage variations, change orders and contract documentation
- Carry out regular site visits, safety audits and progress meetings
- Coordinate construction drawings and vendor information using AutoCAD where required
- Compile operation and maintenance manuals prior to project handover
- Ensure Health & Safety compliance throughout every stage of project delivery
