Their Portuguese operations are part of a long term data centre programme in Sines, one of the most significant mission critical construction projects currently underway in Europe. The Role – Quantity Surveyor
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of a major data centre construction project. Reporting into senior commercial leadership, you will take ownership of subcontract procurement, package management and cost control while working closely with the site and project management teams.
This is a site based position with real influence. You will manage complex subcontract packages from pre contract stage through to final account, ensuring commercial performance is protected while maintaining strong relationships with clients and subcontractors. In a fast paced mission critical environment, your ability to stay organised, commercially sharp and solutions focused will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead subcontractor procurement from tender package preparation through to negotiation and award
• Analyse and compare subcontractor tenders, presenting commercial recommendations to senior management
• Manage multiple subcontract packages from order to final account, including remeasurement and variations
• Prepare and submit accurate monthly cost reports and end of project forecasts
• Develop and agree monthly valuations with the client, ensuring certification and timely invoicing
• Manage subcontractor payments, claims and commercial correspondence in line with contract requirements
• Attend monthly commercial meetings and subcontractor reviews
• Monitor project budgets in collaboration with the Project Director and site team
• Submit contractual notices and claims within required timeframes
• Measure work packages from drawings and apply rates to establish accurate pricing
• Resolve commercial disputes professionally and efficiently
• Maintain clear documentation of all cost changes, variations and final account agreements
About You
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction commercial discipline
• 7 years plus experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large scale construction projects
• Experience managing subcontract packages on complex builds such as data centres, industrial, pharmaceutical or mission critical projects
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, cost reporting and claims management
• Commercially astute with excellent analytical and negotiation skills
• Confident communicator able to engage with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
• Organised and detail focused, with the ability to manage multiple packages simultaneously
• A proactive, can do attitude suited to fast paced data centre construction environments
• Data centre experience is advantageous but not essential
