The Company

An Irish main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering large scale pharmaceutical, industrial and commercial construction projects across Ireland.

With a strong pipeline of work throughout Kildare and the wider Leinster region, this contractor is known for delivering technically demanding projects to high standards of quality, safety and programme management.

The company is now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a major pharmaceutical construction project in Co Kildare.


The Role: Quantity Surveyor

This is a key Quantity Surveyor position working on a major pharmaceutical project in Kildare, offering the opportunity to gain experience on a technically complex development within a well structured commercial team.

You will work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager and site team, taking responsibility for subcontractor procurement, cost control, valuations and commercial reporting throughout the construction programme.

The role will involve managing subcontract packages, monitoring project costs and ensuring strong commercial control across the works.


Must Have Requirements

• Must have 3+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor on construction projects in Ireland.
  
  
• Experience working with a main contractor on large scale building or industrial construction projects is required.
  
  
• Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement, cost management and contract administration.
  
  
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline required.
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Previous pharmaceutical, life sciences or industrial project experience preferred.
  
  
• Experience managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
  
  
• Familiarity with Excel, CostX, Buildsoft or similar estimating and commercial software.
  
  
• Knowledge of Irish construction contracts and commercial reporting procedures.
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of assigned subcontract packages on a major pharmaceutical project in Kildare.
  
  
• Prepare and manage subcontractor procurement, tender documentation and appointments.
  
  
• Monitor project budgets, costs and financial performance throughout construction.
  
  
• Prepare interim valuations, subcontractor payments and final accounts.
  
  
• Identify, assess and manage variations and additional works.
  
  
• Work closely with the site management and engineering teams to monitor progress and costs.
  
  
• Assist with monthly cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates.
  
  
• Maintain accurate records of subcontractor accounts, payments and contractual correspondence.
  
  
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders on commercial matters.
  
  
• Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in maintaining strong cost control and protecting project margins.
  
  

About You

You are a Quantity Surveyor with a solid background in main contractor construction projects and a good understanding of commercial management.

You will be comfortable managing subcontractor accounts, preparing valuations and working closely with site teams to ensure costs are monitored throughout the project.

Experience on pharmaceutical or industrial construction projects would be beneficial, although Quantity Surveyors with strong commercial or large scale building experience will also be considered.

You will be organised, commercially aware and confident communicating with subcontractors and senior management.
