The Role – Resident Engineer M&E
As a Resident Engineer or Senior Resident Engineer M&E, you will be a key part of the site supervision team overseeing MEICA installation, commissioning and compliance on water and wastewater treatment projects.
You will work closely with the Employer’s Representative, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure that mechanical and electrical works are delivered in line with specifications, health and safety regulations and programme requirements. Your input will directly influence quality, performance and successful project handover.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation works on site
• Ensure all MEICA installations comply with contract specifications and design intent
• Monitor programme delivery and report progress to the Project Team and Employer’s Representative
• Review contractor RAMS, technical submissions and commissioning documentation
• Assess interim payment applications, variations and contractor claims
• Oversee FAT, SAT, process proving and system commissioning activities
• Maintain accurate site records, measurements and detailed progress reports
• Promote high standards of health and safety and quality assurance across all works
• Coordinate with civil, structural and process teams across multiple contracts
About You
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Resident Engineer level requires minimum four years experience supervising MEICA works
• Senior Resident Engineer level requires seven to ten years experience on large scale infrastructure projects, ideally within the water or wastewater sector
• Strong understanding of water industry capital delivery frameworks
• Experience in design review, installation and commissioning of MEICA systems
• Confident interpreting P&IDs, wiring diagrams, control philosophies and managing FAT and SAT processes
• Good knowledge of construction contracts, ideally FIDIC or Public Works Contracts
• Strong focus on health and safety compliance and quality control
• Excellent reporting, coordination and communication skills
• Full clean driving licence
