The Company

This Dublin based Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Consultancy delivers building services design and project management across a varied portfolio of projects including residential developments, commercial office fit outs, schools and other building projects.

The consultancy currently has approximately 20 live projects, giving engineers exposure to a good mix of sectors and projects at different stages of design and construction.

With a busy project pipeline, they are looking to appoint two Senior Mechanical Design Engineers to strengthen the mechanical team and support their current workload across Dublin and the wider Irish market.

The Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take responsibility for the mechanical building services design and delivery of projects from initial concept and design development through to construction and handover.

Based in Dublin, you will work across residential, office fit out, education and commercial projects, coordinating with clients, architects, contractors and other members of the design team.

This is a hands on mechanical design position suited to an experienced engineer who can manage their own workload, produce practical mechanical designs and take responsibility for projects through the various design and construction stages.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have strong experience in mechanical building services design
• Proven experience required designing HVAC, ventilation, heating and public health systems
• Must be capable of managing mechanical design packages with limited supervision
• Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations and building services standards required

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with an Irish M&E or building services consultancy preferred
• Residential, commercial fit out or education project experience beneficial
• Experience coordinating with architects, electrical engineers and contractors
• Client facing and project management experience beneficial

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical building services design across multiple live projects
• Design HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water and public health systems
• Prepare calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
• Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, architectural and structural designs
• Attend client, design team and construction meetings
• Review drawings and technical submissions
• Carry out site inspections, snagging and quality reviews
• Support projects through design, tender, construction, commissioning and handover
• Manage project deadlines across a varied workload of live projects
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers where required

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in building services design.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of mechanical design work, dealing directly with clients and design teams and managing several projects at different stages.

A practical understanding of mechanical systems and how designs are installed on site is important, along with strong communication, coordination and technical design skills.
