The Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
This Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role is based in Dublin, Co Dublin, with a particular focus on the design and delivery of mechanical building services for healthcare projects.
You will take mechanical designs from concept through detailed design and construction, working closely with clients, architects, electrical engineers and the wider project team. You will have responsibility for technical design, coordination and specifications, ensuring mechanical systems meet project requirements and programme.
The position would suit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who has worked on hospitals, healthcare facilities or similarly complex building services projects and is ready to take greater technical ownership.
Must Have Requirements
You will be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong building services background and practical experience delivering mechanical designs for healthcare or other technically complex buildings.
You should be comfortable taking ownership of projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams and dealing directly with clients and contractors. Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail and the ability to deliver design information to programme are important for this Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position.

- Must have strong mechanical building services design experience
- Healthcare or hospital project experience is required
- Proven experience required designing HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water services
- Must be comfortable taking mechanical designs through detailed design and construction stages
- Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations and relevant mechanical design standards required
- Experience working within an Irish M&E or building services consultancy preferred
- Experience coordinating mechanical services through BIM environments beneficial
- Knowledge of energy-efficient and low-carbon building services design advantageous
- Experience dealing directly with healthcare clients, design teams and contractors preferred
- Lead mechanical building services design across healthcare projects from concept through construction
- Design and specify HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, water and associated mechanical systems
- Produce and review calculations, specifications, technical reports and mechanical design documentation
- Coordinate mechanical services with architectural, structural and electrical designs
- Work closely with BIM teams to resolve clashes and technical coordination issues
- Attend design and project meetings, providing technical input through construction and commissioning
