The Company

This well-regarded Irish civil engineering contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering water infrastructure, wastewater treatment, energy and general civil engineering projects across Ireland.

With a strong presence in the West of Ireland and a growing pipeline of infrastructure projects, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team in Galway.

The company offers a practical, hands-on working environment where commercial staff work closely with site teams and senior management to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.


The Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor

This is a key Senior Quantity Surveyor position based in Galway, taking commercial responsibility for civil engineering and infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater treatment works.

You will work closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Managers and site teams, overseeing procurement, subcontractor accounts, cost reporting and contract administration from initial stages through to final account.

The role will suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who understands the commercial challenges of civil engineering projects and is confident managing costs, contractual matters and subcontractor relationships.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 7+ years' experience in Quantity Surveying, with a strong background in civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience working with a civil engineering contractor or main contractor in Ireland is required.
• Strong experience in subcontractor procurement, cost management, valuations and final accounts.
• Good working knowledge of construction contracts, commercial reporting and contract administration.

Preferred Experience

• Experience on water infrastructure or wastewater treatment projects would be particularly beneficial.
• Knowledge of public works contracts and NEC contracts would be an advantage.
• Experience managing multiple civil engineering projects simultaneously.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience dealing with subcontractors and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for civil engineering and infrastructure projects from procurement through to final account.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, tender assessments, negotiations and appointments.
• Prepare and review monthly cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections.
• Manage interim valuations, variations, contractual claims and final accounts.
• Monitor project expenditure and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to ensure accurate cost reporting and financial control.
• Review subcontractor applications for payment and manage subcontractor accounts.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and subcontractors on commercial and contractual matters.
• Support the wider commercial team and contribute to the profitable delivery of projects.

About You

You will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in Irish civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

You should have a solid understanding of construction contracts, subcontractor management, cost control and commercial reporting, along with the confidence to take ownership of projects and make sound commercial decisions.

Experience in water infrastructure, wastewater treatment or energy projects would be particularly relevant, although candidates with a strong general civils background will also be considered.

You will be comfortable working with Project Managers, site teams and senior management, with the organisational skills and commercial awareness needed to manage several priorities while keeping projects on budget.
