The Role Technical Manager
As Technical Manager, you will lead the technical function from head office in Dublin, reporting directly to the Commercial Director. This is a strategic and hands on building services leadership role with responsibility for overseeing HVAC system design, technical compliance and product selection across a wide range of commercial and residential projects.
You will act as the technical authority within the business, quality checking designs and submittals, guiding engineers and product managers, and ensuring all HVAC systems meet Irish regulations, energy efficiency standards and client expectations. Your input will directly influence design quality, value engineering, compliance and overall project success.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and influence company wide technical standards across HVAC and building services projects
• Oversee system design for commercial chillers, heat pumps and full HVAC plant room packages
• Quality control all technical designs and product selections prior to client submission
• Manage and sign off on plant room layouts, schematics and coordinated building services designs
• Issue and review detailed technical submittals for contractors and consulting engineers
• Support estimation, sales, specification and service teams with expert HVAC technical guidance
• Provide value engineering input to optimise cost, performance and energy efficiency
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical library of HVAC products and system solutions
• Act as the go to technical lead for engineers across the business
• Ensure compliance with Irish building regulations, energy standards and Triple E register requirements
• Support DEAP software processes and energy performance compliance
• Contribute to KPI reporting and continuous technical improvement initiatives
About You
• Level 8 degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Strong technical background within the HVAC industry in Ireland
• In depth knowledge of commercial chillers, heat pumps and large scale HVAC systems
• Proven experience in a technical manager, senior engineer or quality focused leadership role
• Strong understanding of system design, compliance and energy efficiency requirements
• Experience working with mechanical contractors and consulting engineers
• Commercially aware with the ability to balance performance, cost and compliance
• Confident communicator capable of influencing engineers, sales teams and senior management
• Organised, detail focused and quality driven
• Full right to live and work in Ireland
