The Role – Commissioning Lead
This is a senior site-based leadership role on a large-scale data centre project in Dublin. The Commissioning Lead will take full ownership of the Mechanical and Electrical commissioning process, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality expectations.
You will play a critical role in driving commissioning strategy from early design stages through to Integrated Systems Testing, client acceptance, and final handover. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to manage complex interfaces across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full MEP commissioning strategy from design review through to IST and project handover
- Develop and manage the integrated commissioning programme aligned with overall project delivery
- Oversee all Mechanical and Electrical commissioning activities across critical systems
- Coordinate vendor-led commissioning for both contractor and client supplied equipment
- Manage commissioning of electrical systems including LV, MV, HV, UPS, generators, and protection systems
- Oversee mechanical commissioning including HVAC, chilled water, pumps, controls, fire protection, and fuel systems
- Act as the primary interface between client, subcontractors, and specialist vendors
- Plan and lead FATs, SATs, FWTs, and Integrated Systems Testing activities
- Chair commissioning meetings, ensuring clear communication and accountability across teams
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety, QA/QC, and commissioning procedures
- Manage commissioning documentation including test scripts, reports, and handover dossiers
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management, highlighting risks and mitigation strategies
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering or equivalent trade background
- 10 years’ experience in commissioning within construction or mission critical environments
- Proven track record delivering commissioning on data centres or similar large-scale projects
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, testing, and verification processes
- Experience with mechanical systems commissioning and controls integration
- In-depth understanding of Integrated Systems Testing and phased energisation
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple vendors on complex projects
- Strong communication, reporting, and programme management skills
- Calm and decisive leader, capable of working in high-pressure, live environments
- Detail-focused with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and project delivery
