Design Manager Skills:
- 3–6 years’ experience in design and delivery of large-scale construction projects (data centres, commercial, industrial, healthcare, or educational facilities)
- Degree qualification in a relevant engineering or construction discipline
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services
- Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, detail-oriented approach with focus on deadlines and quality standards
- Familiarity with Technical Submittals (TS), RFIs, IFC drawings, as-built documentation, and O&M manuals
- Experience in LEED or sustainability documentation is advantageous
- Experience on Data Centre projects is desirable but not essential
- Support the Design Lead in coordinating internal design engineers, BIM teams, and external consultants
- Liaise with the client’s design team to ensure design integration across all disciplines
- Track and update design progress to ensure deliverables are issued on schedule
- Prepare and participate in design and engineering workshops to resolve technical issues and maintain progress
- Support the Technical Submittal (TS) process, ensuring timely preparation, submission, and follow-up
- Manage the design query and RFI process, logging, monitoring, and closing issues with relevant engineers
- Ensure Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and updates are maintained and communicated
- Contribute to weekly design and coordination meetings, documenting actions and following up with responsible parties
- Maintain and update the design risk register, highlighting emerging risks to the project team
- Coordinate submittals, design documentation, and tracking of approvals
- Support as-built drawing coordination and ensure final documentation and models meet project requirements
- Ensure O&M manuals and record drawings are submitted and uploaded correctly
- Support tracking of LEED requirements and sustainability documentation
- Liaise with Project Engineer, Project Manager, and wider team to ensure information flow supports site progress
- Prepare design progress reports and assist with other design documentation as required
