Electrical Design Engineer Skills:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience or strong exposure to HV/MV substation design (10kV–220kV)
- Understanding of protection & control schemes
- Ability to prepare substation layouts, elevations, and engineering drawings
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D and/or Eplan (desirable, not essential)
- Familiarity with ESB standards (advantageous but not compulsory)
- Strong technical report writing and documentation skills
- Logical, safety-focused approach to engineering design
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving capability
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently
- Full clean driving licence
- Produce HV/MV engineering drawings including substation layouts, elevations, and lightning protection zones
- Prepare panel schematic drawings and detailed design documentation
- Design protection and control schemes for substation and power projects
- Develop equipment specifications aligned with project and client requirements
- Carry out technical evaluations of vendor and supplier equipment offers
- Prepare and contribute to technical reports and design deliverables
- Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and commissioning engineers
- Support projects across design, installation, inspection, and commissioning phases
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering best practices within the team
