The Role – MEP Estimator

As an MEP Estimator, you will play a key role within the pre-construction team, responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for high-value data centre projects ranging from €200m to €500m.

You will work closely with design teams, supply chain partners and senior management, ensuring all MEP packages are accurately priced, risks are identified early, and value engineering opportunities are fully explored. This is a critical role that directly impacts project success from the earliest stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and appraise tender documentation across mechanical and electrical packages
  • Prepare and issue subcontractor and supplier enquiries
  • Analyse and compare subcontractor quotations to ensure best value
  • Develop detailed cost plans, estimates and project budgets
  • Attend site visits to assess risks and site-specific constraints
  • Contribute to design development and support value engineering exercises
  • Manage and maintain tender risk registers throughout the bid process
  • Raise and track technical queries to ensure design clarity for accurate pricing
  • Present tender submissions to senior leadership, highlighting key commercial risks
  • Support tender interviews including pre-qualification and post-tender stages
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of all tender documentation
  • Manage handover of successful tenders to delivery teams
  • Mentor and support junior estimators within the team
About You

  • Strong background in MEP estimating within construction or engineering
  • Experience working on data centre or mission critical projects preferred
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and installations
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications and contracts
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost planning expertise
  • Experience using CostX, Microsoft Project and other estimating software
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
