Project Planner Skills:
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Project / Planning Engineer or Planner in the civil engineering or infrastructure sector
- Proven experience managing and delivering project schedules for water, wastewater, streetworks, utilities or public realm projects
- Familiarity with trenchless technologies, utilities networks (water / sewer) and street enhancement work is a plus
- Experience in coordinating multiple disciplines (design, civils, M&E, traffic, subcontractors)
- Demonstrable track record in resolving delays, resource conflicts and managing change in programmes
- Proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent)
- Strong skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, reporting tools
- Solid understanding of project controls concepts: critical path method (CPM), earned value management (EVM), resource levelling, change control
- Ability to interpret design drawings, construction sequences and technical constraints
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail and strong organisational skills
As a Project Planner:
- Develop, maintain and update integrated project schedules (master programmes, look-ahead plans) using recognised planning tools (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project or similar)
- Collaborate with project managers, design leads, contracts, construction and commercial teams to define project scope, deliverables, dependencies, milestones and resource requirements
- Monitor project progress, track critical path, identify delays or variances, and propose mitigation actions
- Produce regular reports, dashboards and presentations (e.g. earned value, progress reports, forecasting) for stakeholders and senior management
- Coordinate and lead weekly / fortnightly planning meetings, liaising with site teams and subcontractors to align tasks and constraints
- Maintain risk and issue registers, escalate planning or resource conflicts, and assist in resolution
- Manage change control of programme adjustments, ensuring proper documentation and re-baselining
- Assist in resource and manpower scheduling, interface coordination and planning optimisation
- Support tendering and bid phases by preparing time estimates, programme inputs and risk assessments
- Support continuous improvement of planning / project controls processes, standards, tools and best practices
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, quality and contractual obligations in planning deliverables
