The Company

This well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy has been delivering infrastructure, renewable energy, environmental and water projects for over 70 years. With a growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy developments throughout Ireland and internationally, they provide engineering, planning, environmental and project management services to developers, utilities, public bodies and private sector clients.

Due to continued expansion of their renewable energy division, they are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineering Lead to establish and lead their in-house electrical engineering capability while supporting the delivery of major wind, solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and HV/MV grid infrastructure projects.

The Role: Senior Electrical Engineering Lead

This is a strategic technical leadership position where you will act as the company's senior electrical engineering authority across utility-scale renewable energy developments.

Working closely with multidisciplinary design teams, developers, ESB Networks, EirGrid, contractors and project stakeholders, you will provide technical leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and grid connection strategy through procurement, construction, commissioning and operational handover.

You will also support Owner's Engineer, Employer's Representative and Client Representative appointments while developing engineering standards and mentoring a growing technical team.

Must Have Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10 years' experience delivering HV/MV electrical infrastructure, renewable energy or power projects.
  • Proven experience delivering HV/MV grid infrastructure and grid connection projects.
  • Experience acting as the primary electrical contact with ESB Networks and EirGrid.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working within an Owner's Engineer, Employer's Representative, consultancy or client-side environment.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland or equivalent).
  • Wind, Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project experience.
  • Project Management qualification such as PMP or PRINCE2.
  • Practical experience managing commissioning, energisation and operational handover of HV/MV infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the electrical engineering function across renewable energy and grid infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and governance for HV/MV electrical design and delivery.
  • Manage electrical work packages across project planning, procurement, construction and commissioning.
  • Develop grid connection strategies for renewable energy developments.
  • Review electrical designs, technical submissions and engineering calculations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams including civil, structural, environmental and planning disciplines.
  • Lead technical engagement with ESB Networks, EirGrid, contractors, OEMs and project stakeholders.
  • Support Owner's Engineer, Employer's Representative and Client Representative commissions.
  • Develop internal engineering standards, QA procedures and technical governance processes.
  • Provide technical mentoring and leadership to engineers across the business.
About You

You are an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background delivering HV and MV infrastructure projects within the renewable energy or power sectors. You'll likely come from a consultancy, developer, utility or Owner's Engineer background and be comfortable leading multidisciplinary teams through complex engineering challenges.

You combine excellent technical knowledge with commercial awareness and enjoy building strong relationships with clients, contractors and key stakeholders while driving engineering excellence across major renewable energy developments.

What's On Offer

Salary: €110,000 to €130,000 DOE
