Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centres As a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of complex electrical designs for large-scale data centre developments, working from concept through to construction and commissioning.

You will bring extensive electrical building services design experience, particularly within mission-critical environments, and will be comfortable leading projects while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

As a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer, you will:

• Hold an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering (Chartered status is advantageous but not essential).
  
  
• Have 10 years’ experience in an electrical design engineering role within a consultancy environment.
  
  
• Demonstrate strong data centre or mission-critical design experience.
  
  
• Possess advanced knowledge of electrical building services design principles.
  
  
• Have expert understanding of ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, and EN standards.
  
  
• Be proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech, and Revit.
  
  
• Show proven ability to lead electrical design packages from feasibility through to completion.
  
  
• Communicate effectively with clients, architects, project managers, and contractors.
  
  
• Be experienced in the design and specification of LV/HV systems, UPS, generators, lighting, earthing, and power distribution for critical facilities.
  
  
• Be confident using Microsoft Office for reports, specifications, and presentations.
  
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the electrical design and delivery of data centre projects and other complex developments.
  
  
• Develop and specify electrical services systems for mission-critical and high-availability facilities.
  
  
• Produce detailed design calculations, schematics, drawings, and tender documentation.
  
  
• Establish and maintain electrical design standards and best practices.
  
  
• Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers.
  
  
• Attend and oversee site inspections, installations, and commissioning activities.
  
  
• Prepare tender analysis reports, technical reviews, and recommendations.
  
  
• Collaborate with internal design teams and external stakeholders to define project scope.
  
  
• Manage projects from concept to handover, taking full ownership with minimal supervision.
  
  
• Prepare project budgets, technical reports, and client documentation.
