The Role – Senior Quantity Surveyor
This is a key commercial role based on a live Athlone project involving the renovation and extension of a protected structure alongside a new-build residential development. The project blends conservation works with modern construction, requiring strong commercial oversight and attention to detail.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full responsibility for the financial management of the project, ensuring costs are controlled, value is maximised, and commercial risks are effectively managed from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage all project costs from initial budgets through to final accounts
• Oversee procurement of subcontractors and negotiate commercial terms
• Monitor project expenditure, forecasts, and cash flow reporting
• Administer subcontractor payments, variations, and claims
• Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to senior management
• Work closely with site and project management teams to drive programme and cost efficiency
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
About You
• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
• Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role with a main contractor
• Strong background in residential, refurbishment, or mixed-use projects
• Experience working on conservation or protected structures is advantageous
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Detail-oriented with strong cost control and reporting ability
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
