This established specialist contractor has built a strong reputation delivering technically demanding construction projects across sectors including advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, data centres and industrial facilities throughout the UK and Europe.

With a growing pipeline of battery manufacturing and clean technology projects, the company continues to secure large scale work with major international clients. Their projects are known for high safety standards, strong programme delivery and well organised site teams operating within fast moving construction environments.

The Role: SHEQ Advisor

This is a site based SHEQ Advisor role on a major battery manufacturing project in Bridgwater, Somerset.

You will work closely with site management, subcontractors and project teams to maintain high standards across safety, health, environmental and quality compliance on a live construction project. The SHEQ Advisor will play a key role in driving site standards, ensuring procedures are followed correctly and supporting the successful delivery of works in line with programme and client requirements.

The role suits a proactive SHEQ Advisor with experience on large scale industrial, pharmaceutical, manufacturing or mission critical construction projects.

Must Have Requirements:
  •  Must have previous experience as a SHEQ Advisor, EHS Advisor or Health & Safety Advisor on construction projects
  •  Experience with a main contractor or specialist contractor environment is required
  •  Proven experience required on large scale industrial, manufacturing, pharma or mission critical projects
  •  Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and site compliance procedures
  •  NEBOSH qualification or equivalent health and safety certification required

Preferred Experience:
  • Battery plant, advanced manufacturing or cleanroom project experience preferred
  • Experience using digital reporting and permit systems beneficial
  • Background working on fast track construction projects advantageous
  • Environmental and quality management experience beneficial
Nice to Have:
  •  IOSH membership
  •  First Aid certification
  •  Internal auditing experience
  •  Degree qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental or related discipline


Key Responsibilities:
  •  Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
  •  Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety walks
  •  Support subcontractor management and ensure RAMS are in place and followed correctly
  •  Maintain accurate SHEQ records, reports and documentation
  •  Assist with incident investigations and close out actions
  •  Promote a strong positive safety culture across the project team
  •  Support toolbox talks, inductions and site training activities
  •  Liaise with project management teams regarding compliance, risk and programme delivery
  •  Ensure works are completed in line with company procedures and client expectations


About You:

You are a proactive SHEQ Advisor who is comfortable working within a busy live construction environment. You understand the importance of maintaining standards while supporting programme delivery on technically demanding projects.

You will have strong communication skills, good attention to detail and the ability to work closely with subcontractors, site teams and management. Previous experience on industrial, pharmaceutical, manufacturing or mission critical projects will be highly regarded.
