The Company
This Tier 1 civil engineering contractor has a strong track record delivering major roads, bridges and infrastructure projects across Ireland.
They are currently delivering a significant motorway scheme in Co Cork involving approximately a new motorway, major earthworks, drainage, bridge structures and associated infrastructure. The project provides several years of work in the Cork region with an experienced engineering and site management team in place.
The Role: Site Agent
As Site Agent, you’ll take responsibility for a major section of this motorway project in Co Cork, working closely with the Project Manager and senior project team.
You’ll manage engineering, supervisory and subcontractor teams across earthworks, drainage, structures and road construction, with responsibility for programme delivery, quality, temporary works and health and safety.
This is a senior site-based position with genuine responsibility for driving construction activities and resolving technical and programme issues as the works progress.

About You
You’ll come from a strong civil engineering background with experience delivering substantial infrastructure works in Ireland or the UK.
You should be comfortable taking ownership of a busy section of works, managing engineers and subcontractors and making practical decisions on site. Strong technical knowledge of earthworks, drainage, structures, temporary works and programme delivery will be important.
You’ll also need the communication and leadership skills to keep engineering, commercial and construction teams aligned throughout delivery.

- Must have strong Site Agent, Senior Engineer or Project Manager experience on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Proven experience required across roads, earthworks, drainage, structures or heavy civils
- Strong knowledge of temporary works, construction methodologies and site engineering is required
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline required
- Must be confident managing engineering teams, subcontractors and complex site interfaces
Preferred Experience
- Motorway or national roads experience preferred
- Experience working to TII specifications beneficial
- Temporary Works Coordinator experience or qualification preferred
- NEC contract experience beneficial
- Bridge, reinforced concrete or structural works experience advantageous
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day delivery of your section of the motorway works in line with programme
- Coordinate engineering teams, supervisors, subcontractors, plant and site resources
- Oversee earthworks, drainage, structures, reinforced concrete and associated road infrastructure
- Manage construction methodologies, RAMS, temporary works and technical interfaces
- Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, ITPs and TII requirements
- Drive health and safety standards across all construction activities
- Monitor progress, identify programme or technical risks and implement corrective actions
- Work closely with the Project Manager, commercial team, design team and client representatives
