The Role – Water Design Manager

As Water Design Manager, you will play a key leadership role across multiple water and wastewater projects in Dublin and surrounding regions. You will manage the design process from early stage development through construction and commissioning, ensuring technical excellence, programme certainty and full compliance with health and safety standards.

This is a senior position within a growing water infrastructure team. You will coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process design elements, while working closely with site delivery teams to ensure seamless integration from design to operation. Your input will directly influence project quality, regulatory compliance and successful client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design function across water and wastewater treatment projects
• Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Sustainability standard
• Coordinate civil, MEICA and process engineering design activities
• Act as PSDP representative and support PSCS responsibilities on live sites
• Work closely with construction teams to ensure design intent is achieved on site
• Liaise with clients, designers, consultants and third party stakeholders
• Oversee programme development including baseline programmes and updates using Microsoft Project
• Manage technical documentation, approvals and reporting
• Support commissioning, process proving and handover activities
• Contribute to commercial discussions including subcontractor coordination and final accounts

About You

• Degree qualified in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science or Chemistry with strong industry experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar design or project management role within water or wastewater infrastructure
• Strong understanding of MEICA systems including mechanical installation, electrical works, control panels and process systems
• In depth knowledge of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Construction Regulations
• Experience working with Uisce Éireann, Northern Ireland Water or similar public utilities advantageous
• Proficient in programme management software such as Microsoft Project
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams
• Commercially aware with experience engaging in financial negotiations
• Full driving licence
