The Role – Water Process Design Engineer
As a Water Process Design Engineer, you will lead the Process and Hydraulic Engineering discipline across a range of water and wastewater treatment projects throughout Ireland. You will be involved from early concept design through detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning and operational handover.
Working within a multidisciplinary MEICA and civil engineering environment, you will develop and manage process design solutions that ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client requirements, programme targets and operational performance standards.
This role offers excellent exposure to complex infrastructure projects and provides a strong platform for career progression into Design Management or Technical Leadership positions within the water sector.

The Role – Water Process Design Engineer
As a Water Process Design Engineer, you will lead the Process and Hydraulic Engineering discipline across a range of water and wastewater treatment projects throughout Ireland. Key Responsibilities
- Develop process and hydraulic design solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Prepare and review Process Design Reports, hydraulic calculations, PFDs and intelligent P&IDs
- Support development of efficient plant layouts with focus on operability, maintainability and construction access
- Coordinate with MEICA, civil, structural, EICA and digital engineering teams to ensure integrated project delivery
- Engage directly with clients, stakeholders and third party agencies to resolve technical queries and communicate design intent
- Participate in HAZOP studies, constructability reviews and design workshops
- Monitor design progress against project programmes and identify risks or technical constraints
- Ensure all designs comply with client specifications, statutory requirements and internal engineering standards
- Provide technical support during construction, testing and commissioning phases
- Liaise with site teams to address design issues, update technical documentation and support successful project delivery
- Support development of control philosophies and collaborate with automation teams to ensure process control requirements are fully integrated
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued development of the engineering team
About You
- Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within water, wastewater or process engineering environments
- Strong background in process and hydraulic engineering design
- Experience preparing and managing process documentation including PFDs, P&IDs and control philosophies
- Knowledge of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment processes or utility infrastructure projects
- Experience working within multidisciplinary MEICA project teams
- Familiar with BIM360, ACC, ProjectWise or similar Common Data Environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead technical discussions and coordinate design deliverables
- Chartered Engineer status or progress toward chartership would be advantageous
- Strong focus on safety, quality and programme delivery
