The Role – Data Centre Project Engineer
This role focuses on the delivery of advanced process water treatment systems used within hyperscale and enterprise data centres. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will support the design coordination, installation, commissioning and optimisation of water treatment systems used for cooling, humidification and other mission critical applications.
You will be involved in the delivery of high purity and process water systems including reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration and chemical dosing systems while coordinating with mechanical, electrical and automation teams on complex data centre infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Support delivery of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation aspects of process water treatment systems
• Interpret P&IDs, design drawings, specifications and functional control descriptions
• Coordinate design and installation of advanced water treatment technologies including reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration and demineralisation systems
• Manage procurement and coordination of pumps, valves, instruments, control panels and packaged treatment skids
• Develop project schedules and coordinate engineering activities across design, installation and commissioning stages
• Oversee installation and integration of process water systems within data centre infrastructure
• Support commissioning activities including FAT, SAT, system start up and performance optimisation
• Monitor water quality and process performance to ensure system compliance with operational requirements
• Coordinate with M&E contractors, BMS and SCADA teams during project delivery
• Ensure water treatment systems integrate with cooling towers, chilled water systems and make up water systems
• Prepare engineering documentation including method statements, risk assessments and commissioning plans
• Support site installation activities and subcontractor coordination
• Participate in technical meetings, commissioning walkdowns and project reviews with clients and consultants
About You
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental or Automation Engineering
• Experience working within water treatment, process engineering or utilities infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of water treatment technologies such as RO, UF, filtration, dosing or demineralisation systems
• Understanding of PLC, SCADA or BMS controlled systems in industrial environments
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple technical tasks within project schedules
• Full Irish or EU driving licence
• Experience within data centre or mission critical infrastructure projects is advantageous
