Electrical Project Engineer Skills:
- Someone with at least 5 years’ experience in an electrical project engineering role.
- A qualified electrician who’s stepped into engineering/project coordination or is keen to make that move.
- Ideally, someone who has worked in the water/wastewater industry – but if not, that’s not a deal-breaker.
- Comfortable using AutoCAD for updating drawings and coordinating with vendors.
- Confident managing subcontractors and direct labour on site.
- Well-organised, clear communicator, with a practical mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Able to balance technical understanding with commercial awareness.
- Driving license
As an Electrical Project Engineer:
- Working closely with the Project Manager to keep things moving on track and on budget.
- Getting in touch with suppliers, reviewing quotes, and making sure everything lines up with project specs.
- Pulling together technical submittals and documentation for client sign-off.
- Building and updating project programmes, tracking progress against the plan.
- Coordinating contractors, internal teams, and site crews to deliver on schedule.
- Writing up method statements, risk assessments, and managing project QA procedures.
- Acting as the key link between the office and site – liaising with subcontractors, client reps, and trades.
- Taking ownership of on-site supervision, ensuring quality and safety standards are always met.
- Carrying out site surveys and producing detailed work packages.
- Keeping safety documentation up to date and carrying out audits as required.
- Managing contract documentation, tracking variations, and supporting with O&M manuals.
- This is a split role – you’ll be based in the Carlow office but expected to be on-site as needed to ensure delivery standards are upheld
