The Role Electrical Project Engineer
As Electrical Project Engineer, you will take ownership of electrical panel building projects from technical review and design coordination through production, Factory Acceptance Testing and final delivery.
You will work closely with design engineers, workshop technicians, procurement teams and clients to ensure each project is delivered safely, on programme and within budget. This is a hands on project engineering role within an electrical panel manufacturing and automation environment, where attention to detail and strong technical knowledge are critical to success.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage electrical panel manufacturing projects from quotation handover to commissioning
• Review customer specifications, single line diagrams and control schematics
• Prepare Bills of Materials and coordinate procurement of electrical components
• Ensure compliance with IEC, EN, UL and CE marking requirements
• Provide technical support to workshop teams during panel build and testing
• Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing and support Site Acceptance Testing when required
• Monitor project schedules, budgets and resource allocation
• Liaise with clients, consultants and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and revision control
• Identify and resolve technical issues efficiently to protect programme and quality
About You
• Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering or completed SOLAS Level 6 apprenticeship with strong industry experience
• 2 to 5 years experience in electrical panel design, control panel manufacture or industrial electrical projects
• Strong understanding of LV and MV distribution systems, MCCs and control panels
• Experience with motor control systems, PLCs, VFDs and protection systems
• Ability to interpret single line diagrams and electrical schematics
• Familiar with IEC standards, electrical safety regulations and compliance requirements
• Organised, commercially aware and capable of managing multiple projects
• Strong communication skills with a practical, problem solving mindset
Desirable
• Experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software
• Knowledge of CE and UL marking and technical file preparation
• Experience with short circuit and thermal calculations
• ERP or MRP system exposure
• Site commissioning experience
• Full clean driving licence
