The Role Junior Electrical Engineer
As a Junior Electrical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams supporting the design, coordination and delivery of electrical engineering projects.
You will gain exposure to electrical design, site activities, commissioning support and technical documentation across energy, utilities and infrastructure schemes. This role offers real responsibility from an early stage, while providing strong technical guidance and mentoring to help you build solid professional foundations.
Key Responsibilities
• Support senior engineers with electrical design, installation, commissioning and maintenance activities
• Assist in preparing electrical drawings, layouts, schematics, calculations and technical specifications
• Contribute to project planning, coordination meetings and technical problem solving
• Interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation accurately
• Support compliance with electrical standards, regulations and client requirements
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports and engineering records
• Assist with quality assurance procedures and safety compliance across projects
• Attend site visits to support surveys, inspections, testing and technical query resolution
• Promote a safety first culture across all engineering activities
About You
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Up to 2 years’ relevant experience including graduate, placement or early career roles
• Exposure to electrical systems within energy, utilities, renewables, construction or infrastructure environments
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Eplan or similar engineering software advantageous
• Strong organisational, communication and problem solving skills
• Keen interest in renewable energy, sustainability and modern electrical technologies
• Understanding of BIM workflows and digital engineering tools beneficial
• Motivated to learn under the guidance of senior engineers and develop professionally
• Full driving licence advantageous
