You are a Project Engineer looking to join an experienced team to take the lead on delivering mechanical engineering solutions across water and wastewater treatment plants based out of Co Kildare or Co Dublin.

You’ll be involved in both MEICA and civil works, working from early design stages right through to final delivery on-site.

This role suits someone who can bring technical know-how, strong problem-solving ability, and the confidence to work across multiple disciplines, from design right through to completion.

Your new company are a specialist engineering and construction business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure across sectors like water, power, transportation, and natural resources.

With a hands-on, self-delivery model, we bring together our in-house teams, plant, and technical expertise to manage projects from the ground up.
For those eager to learn more about this exciting opportunity, please do not hesitate to reach out to Stephen at stephen@breaghrecruitment.com / 015314345

Project Engineer Skills:
  • A degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or similar).
  • Chartered Engineer status — or actively working towards it.
  • 3+ years of experience in water/wastewater projects as a Project Engineer.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary setting, offering both technical and commercial input.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and experience resolving technical or on-site challenges.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards, especially in water/wastewater environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with design tools like AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Good communication skills — both written and spoken — with the ability to deal effectively with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.
  • A full, clean driving licence.

As a Project Engineer:
  • Leading the design for water and wastewater treatment projects, including surveys, feasibility studies, detailed design, and tender pricing.
  • Working closely with other teams — civil, process, electrical, instrumentation, and health & safety — to make sure mechanical systems integrate smoothly into the overall project.
  • Overseeing procurement of equipment like pumps, valves, tanks, and pipework, ensuring everything aligns with project specs and industry standards.
  • Coordinating subcontractors, keeping mechanical work on track with timelines, quality standards, and safety.
  • Regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and make sure all works meet compliance and safety expectations.
  • Liaising with clients and stakeholders from start to finish, offering updates, advice, and technical support.
  • Keeping health & safety top of mind, making sure all work aligns with internal and client standards.
  • Producing reports and documentation, highlighting key milestones, risks, and updates for both internal teams and the client.
  • Helping drive continuous improvement by feeding lessons learned into future projects.
  • Supporting junior engineers and helping create a positive, collaborative work culture.
