Senior Electrical Engineer Skills:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (Level 8 or above).
- Minimum 6–8 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally with projects in municipal water or wastewater.
- Proven experience managing electrical works on medium to large infrastructure or utility projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical system design, power distribution, motor control systems, and industrial instrumentation.
- Familiarity with Irish electrical regulations, including ET101, IS EN standards, and relevant health & safety frameworks.
- Experience working with design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Amtech, or similar).
- Excellent coordination, leadership, and communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to mentor junior engineers and site personnel.
- Full, clean driver’s license (essential).
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (Engineers Ireland or equivalent).
- Understanding of telemetry/automation systems in treatment plants.
- Experience with energy efficiency upgrades and electrical sustainability strategies.
- Previous work with or for Irish Water frameworks.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer:
- Lead the design and specification of electrical services for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and process equipment.
- Manage the integration of LV electrical systems, motor control centres (MCCs), instrumentation, telemetry, and control systems (incl. SCADA).
- Work closely with civil, mechanical, and process teams to ensure seamless interdisciplinary coordination.
- Conduct detailed electrical design reviews, cable sizing, load calculations, and compliance checks against national and Irish Water standards.
- Review and approve drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and as-built documentation.
- Supervise electrical subcontractors during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Oversee FAT/SAT, energisation protocols, and verify electrical QA/QC documentation and safety files.
- Liaise with clients, design consultants, utility providers, and stakeholders to ensure scope clarity and successful project delivery.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental, and quality standards.
