The Role – Senior Electrical Estimator
As Senior Electrical Estimator, you will take a strategic role within the estimating and bid function, leading the preparation of competitive, accurate and commercially sound tenders for electrical infrastructure, power distribution and renewable energy projects.
Working closely with bid managers, commercial leads and engineering teams, you will shape pricing strategy, assess risk and ensure every submission is technically compliant and commercially robust. You will also mentor junior estimators and contribute to the ongoing improvement of estimating systems and processes.
This is a senior level position with real influence over project selection, pricing approach and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the preparation of detailed electrical estimates for transmission, distribution, renewable energy and industrial projects
• Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and full tender documentation
• Complete material, plant and labour take offs for LV, MV and HV electrical systems
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations for technical and commercial compliance
• Develop cost build ups, rate analysis and pricing models using Excel and estimating software
• Contribute to pricing strategy, risk identification and value engineering during bid stage
• Prepare cost schedules, pricing summaries and tender submission documentation
• Participate in bid reviews and post tender negotiations with clients
• Maintain and develop historical cost databases and supplier information
• Ensure all tenders align with HSQE, governance and commercial standards
• Support project handover to delivery teams following successful award
• Mentor junior estimators and support continuous improvement within the estimating function
About You
• Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or related discipline
• Minimum five years electrical estimating experience within power, utilities or construction
• Strong technical knowledge of LV, MV and HV electrical infrastructure systems
• Experience pricing transmission, distribution or renewable energy projects
• Familiarity with utility clients such as ESB Networks, EirGrid or similar advantageous
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with estimating software such as Candy, ConQuest, CCS or similar
• Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations and health and safety requirements
• Commercially astute with a detail focused and analytical mindset
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage across engineering, commercial and supply chain teams
• Self motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative bid environment
