The Role: Senior Planner
As Senior Planner, you will play a key role in the successful planning and delivery of major Water & Wastewater infrastructure projects from tender stage through to construction and completion.
Working closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Engineers, Commercial Teams and Project Controls, you will develop detailed project programmes, monitor progress, identify programme risks and provide accurate planning information that supports safe, efficient and commercially successful project delivery.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex civil engineering and MEICA projects while contributing to the continued expansion of a leading infrastructure contractor within the Irish water sector.
Must Have Requirements
You are an experienced Senior Planner with a strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure delivery. You understand the importance of accurate planning, programme management and project controls in delivering complex construction projects safely, on time and within budget.
You have excellent analytical skills, communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and are confident presenting programme information to senior management and clients. Experience within the Irish Water & Wastewater sector will be highly regarded.

The Role: Senior Planner

Must Have Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' planning and project controls experience within the construction or engineering industry.
- Proven experience required on Water & Wastewater, utilities or major civil engineering projects.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 is essential together with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office.
- Experience working for a main contractor or civil engineering contractor is required.
- Experience supporting both tender planning and live project delivery.
- Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC or other standard forms of construction contract.
- Experience carrying out programme risk analysis and project controls reporting.
- Strong understanding of resource planning and construction sequencing.
- Experience mentoring junior planners or planning engineers.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution.
- Experience using Power BI or other reporting software.
- Knowledge of BIM-enabled project delivery.
- Develop detailed construction programmes for tender submissions and live projects.
- Prepare fully resourced project programmes aligned with project objectives and client requirements.
- Monitor project progress and update programmes throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Carry out critical path analysis and identify programme risks and mitigation measures.
- Contribute to project risk registers and undertake programme risk analysis.
- Prepare planning reports, progress updates and planning presentations for internal and client meetings.
- Develop resource schedules and support project review meetings.
- Assist bid teams in preparing tender programmes, methodologies and written submissions.
- Work closely with estimators, engineers, commercial teams and supply chain partners to develop practical delivery strategies.
- Support project handovers from tender through to construction teams.
- Promote best practice in health, safety, environmental and quality planning throughout all project phases.
- Provide planning advice and support to project teams across multiple live infrastructure projects.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning systems, procedures and project controls.
