This opportunity is with a leading international engineering contractor delivering large scale data centre and mission critical construction projects across Europe. With a strong presence in Italy and a growing portfolio of hyperscale data centre developments, the company is recognised for high technical standards, structured project delivery and engineering led solutions.
Their European data centre division continues to expand, and they are now seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join a flagship data centre project in Milan.
The Role – Lead Electrical Engineer
As Lead Electrical Engineer on a major data centre construction project in Milan, you will take full ownership of electrical technical coordination from design review through to commissioning and client handover.
You will ensure that electrical systems are compliant, buildable and delivered in line with programme milestones. Working closely with project management, BIM teams, consultants and specialist vendors, you will play a critical role in driving quality, managing technical risk and supporting successful commissioning of mission critical infrastructure.
This is a senior, site based position on a high value data centre build where your engineering expertise will directly influence performance, safety and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Review and interrogate electrical designs to identify inconsistencies, clashes and buildability risks
• Validate cable sizing, containment systems, protection coordination and critical power distribution layouts
• Prepare and manage electrical technical submittals through consultant and client approval processes
• Coordinate closely with BIM teams to ensure real world installation feasibility
• Monitor procurement, delivery and verification of electrical plant and equipment
• Lead technical coordination meetings with subcontractors, suppliers and design teams
• Conduct electrical walkdowns to ensure installations meet drawings and specifications
• Oversee commissioning activities including MV and LV systems, UPS, generators and associated infrastructure
• Compile and manage test packs, FTOP documentation and O and M manuals
• Support structured client training and system handover
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, quality assurance and information security
About You
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Proven experience as a Lead Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer on data centre or mission critical construction projects
• Strong knowledge of MV and LV distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, backup generation and critical infrastructure
• Experience working on large scale European construction projects
• Confident managing technical coordination across multidisciplinary international teams
• Strong documentation, reporting and communication skills
• Practical, solutions focused approach when working to demanding project schedules
