Quantity Surveyor - Mechanical & Process Engineering Projects

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong understanding of mechanical and process engineering works to take ownership of the commercial delivery of projects based out of Waterford.

This role will suit a commercially astute QS who understands the cost drivers behind mechanical installations, including pipework, plant, fabrication and subcontracted specialist packages.

You will work closely with project managers, engineers and site teams, providing clear commercial leadership from pre-contract stage through to final account. This is a key role within the business, offering autonomy, responsibility and long-term progression.

Quantity Surveyor Skills:

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline
• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a mechanical, M&E or process engineering environment
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems including pipework, plant, fabrication and process installations
• Experience managing subcontractor procurement, accounts and commercial performance
• Proven ability to manage valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts
• Strong working knowledge of construction and engineering contracts
• High level of commercial awareness with the ability to identify risk and opportunity
• Strong negotiation, analytical and reporting skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and wider MS Office suite
• Full clean Irish driving licence

As a Quantity Surveyor:

• Take ownership of the commercial management of mechanical and process engineering projects
• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans and cashflow forecasts
• Measure, value and manage mechanical works including variations and change control
• Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiation and account management
• Prepare interim valuations, monthly cost reports and financial forecasts
• Work closely with project managers and engineers to monitor labour, materials and productivity
• Identify and mitigate commercial risk while maximising project value
• Support contract administration and maintain accurate commercial records
• Liaise directly with clients, consultants and subcontractors on commercial matters
• Contribute to commercial strategy and continuous improvement within the business

The Package: Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary in the region of at least €70,000 – plus package.
