Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer Skills:
- Extensive experience in mechanical building services engineering within data centre, pharmaceutical or large-scale industrial environments
- Proven ability to lead mechanical engineering and commissioning delivery on complex projects
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, pipework, plant, utilities, controls and instrumentation
- Experience managing design coordination, BIM reviews, P&IDs, schematics and technical submittals
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of scope control, procurement strategy, variations and cost impacts
- Strong leadership capability with experience mentoring engineers and managing technical teams
- Highly organised with a structured, process-driven approach to engineering delivery
- Excellent communication skills, confident liaising with clients, consultants, vendors and internal stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving ability with a practical, delivery-focused mindset
- Lead and coordinate all mechanical engineering and commissioning activities across the project lifecycle
- Take ownership of design management, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards and programme requirements
- Oversee procurement technical reviews, long-lead equipment selection and subcontractor scope definition
- Manage quality processes including ITPs, CTQ matrices, FATs, system walkdowns, test packs and snag closeout
- Plan and manage commissioning activities including flushing, balancing, pressure testing and functional testing
- Review BIM models and coordinated drawings to ensure alignment with P&IDs, schematics and design intent
- Identify technical risks, value engineering opportunities and design improvements
- Provide technical input into project planning, procurement sequencing and delivery strategies
- Liaise closely with commercial teams to manage scope changes, variations and cost impacts
- Mentor and support junior engineers and contribute to CPD and technical development initiatives
